Forward-thinking Melbourne-based property developer, BEKL, has announced its appointment of IHG’s new upscale brand, Voco, as the chosen hotel operator of its stunning new hotel, Voco South Melbourne.

The hotel, due to be built at the northern end of St Kilda Road on Dorcas Street, offers guests a selection of 171 well-appointed rooms, designed around a ‘Me Time’ concept, along with sprawling restaurant and bar spaces, four meeting spaces and a gym.

BEKL Managing Director, Katherine Liu, is looking forward to working with the international brand, saying voco Hotels’ shared passion for innovative design and lifestyle made it a natural fit for their South Melbourne property.

“We pride ourselves on creating quality, innovative, long-standing spaces that place an emphasis on the human experience, so it was important to us that our partners share that same vision and passion for what we are trying to achieve.”

Katherine said voco Hotels’ refreshing take on the travel experience made them a standout choice in delivering an iconic development to Melbourne’s St Kilda Road precinct.

“Melbourne is one of the world’s greatest cities with an enviable events calendar, strong tourism and an increasing appetite for outstanding accommodation. Even after a challenging period over the past few months, we know Melbourne will bounce back better than ever and we look forward to joining with voco in welcoming domestic and international travellers alike.
“BEKL is passionate about developing spaces that encourage guests to indulge in their zest for life while connecting with the local community – a value that is synonymous with the voco Hotels brand,” she said.

The hotel will look to form part of a larger mixed-use project which if given the green light, will comprise 36 apartments and 2,293sqm of office space.
